The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the heart of Ontario's power system. The IESO delivers key services across the electricity sector including: managing the power system in real-time, planning for the province's future energy needs, enabling conservation and designing a more efficient electricity marketplace to support sector evolution.
New Reliability Outlook Released
Ontario’s electricity system has adequate resources to maintain reliability and meet the province’s needs over the winter season and beyond, according to a new Reliability Outlook report released by the IESO.
The quarterly report includes forested electricity demand and system adequacy for the next 18-month period, as well as an extended 42-month outlook to provide increased transparency into the future electricity needs of the province.

Energy Storage Report Released
As part of its commitment to innovation and fair competition, the IESO has released Removing Obstacles for Storage Resources in Ontario, which recommends solutions to address the primary barriers faced by energy storage resources. The IESO, with input from the Energy Storage Advisory Group, will address the recommendations within its jurisdiction.

MRP High-Level Designs Released
The DAM will provide greater operational and financial certainty, while lowering the cost of producing electricity. The ERUC will help ensure the most cost-effective set of resources are used to meet demand as it changes from day-ahead to real-time. Feedback on both designs is due February 28, 2019.
